While in Russia for the adoptions of three of their children, the extreme misery and poverty, especially the spiritual poverty, the sky-high abortion rates, promiscuity, drugs and overall lack of meaning in peoples' lives made quite an impression on Tom and Jeanne. During visits to orphanages, they saw so many children needing physical, emotional, and spiritual help. The children needed someone to love them and to be part of a family. Tom and Jeanne felt called to do something about it and so they are helping to start this work. In 2005, Tom, along with 2 volunteers, traveled to Vladisvostok Russia to help where they could. In 2006, another trip was made with Tom, Dave, and Jim. This time they traveled with medicine, money and clothing donations. In 2007, again Tom and Dave along with another volunteer traveled to Vladisvostok with donated items. Also, a 501c3 status was obtained. Since then, two more trips have been made. |
